La Stable à l'Inn

A quiet Bethlehem stable stands ready with straw, a wooden manger, a clay water jar, and the humble animals of the Nativity. An ox rests beside the feeding place while a donkey stands near the stall wall, with the evening hills visible through the open doorway. The absence of figures draws attention to the lowly setting chosen for the coming of Jesus the Messiah—not a palace, but a shelter for animals.

The scene reflects the Gospel account of Mary laying her child in a manger because there was no room available for them. In Christian teaching, the manger becomes a sign of divine humility: the Savior enters the world among the poor, the weary, and the ordinary.
